The Mountain That Changes You

What Is Kilimanjaro?

The Mountain That Changes You

Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant stratovolcano rising 5,895 metres above sea level — the highest point in Africa and the world tallest free-standing mountain. Unlike technical alpine climbs, Kilimanjaro requires no ropes or special equipment. What makes it extraordinary is the altitude and the journey through five distinct ecological zones.

As you ascend you walk through rainforest, heath and moorland, alpine desert, and finally the arctic summit snowfields. Within a single week you experience terrain that spans the tropics to the poles.

When Should You Climb?

Kilimanjaro can be climbed year-round, but weather varies by season. Choosing the right window dramatically affects your summit experience.

January - March

Jan - Mar

Clear Summit Views

One of the best windows. Clear skies and stable conditions above 3,000m. Cold nights at higher camps but excellent summit visibility.

June - October

Jun - Oct

Best Weather Window

Peak season. Dry, cold, and clear — ideal for summit attempts. July and August see the highest foot traffic. Book well in advance.

Peak Season

November - December

Nov - Dec

Fewer Crowds

Short rains arrive in November. Lower camps are wetter but the upper mountain above 4,000m stays drier. Quieter with fewer crowds.

Common Questions

No technical climbing experience is required. Kilimanjaro is a high-altitude trek, not a technical climb. Good physical fitness and mental determination are what you need.
Comfortable hiking 6-8 hours per day on consecutive days is the benchmark. Hill training in the months before is recommended.
Altitude sickness occurs when your body struggles to acclimatise to reduced oxygen. Symptoms include headache, nausea, and fatigue. Our guides monitor every climber daily with pulse oximeters.
Park fees, rescue fees, all meals on the mountain, hotel accommodation, airport transfers, all camping gear, and full crew wages. No hidden costs.
Absolutely. We tailor every climb to your fitness, schedule, and budget. Contact us and we will design the perfect itinerary for you.
